A living museum of broadcast archives from the region and around the world, as well as thousands of oldies from the late 1940's to the late 1970's: Big Band, Pop, Oldies, Crooners, Classic Country, classic commercials, TV shows and movie clips.
If you're a Boomer, chances are you catch yourself longing for the way it used to be. When life was less complicated, and AM radio ruled. There was a time when local radio catered to this significantly large sector of the population. Now, not so much... What would you say if you could find all of your favourite songs, around the clock, online? On your computer, or mobile device? But even better: classic commercials, TV shows, movies, flashbacks to history and rare broadcast archives from the Peterborough and Lindsay area...
This is exactly why ‘The Fantastic Kawartha Time Machine’ exists. We’re an online alternative to traditional radio – and even though there is a lone radio station that identifies with the oldies brand, nobody – and we mean nobody offers what we do: a potpourri of your favourite songs: from Buddy Holly to The Beatles, Patti Page, to Patsy Cline, Louis Prima to Louis Armstrong. Even Big Band and Standards – everyone from Sinatra, to Perry Como, to Rosemary Clooney, along with the biggest hits from Top 40 Radio.
And really, who made the rule that oldies need be restricted to Pop or Rock? We spin classic country tracks from the Time Machine Country Club, where membership has its privileges and includes classic tunes you don’t hear on commercial country radio today: Tammy Wynette, George Jones, Hank Snow, Bob Wills, Dolly, Loretta, Conway – the list goes on.
Our commercials are classics from yesteryear, and we also feature classic comedy, too – Bob Newhart, Rodney Dangerfield, Jeff Foxworthy, Carol Burnett, Red Skelton, Steve Martin, and Allan Sherman. Most don’t know that Sherman had alot more to offer than ‘Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah.’ Well, we have the collection…
We believe that nostalgia has an important place in the lives of Boomers, or Boomer wannabes. And you never have to apologize when caught pining for the good old days, when life was a little less complicated, and music had a beat you could tap your toe to. A melody, that lifted your spirits.
This is the music that provided the soundtrack of your life. But you will also hear rare, regional broadcast archives from area radio stations 980 CHEX, 910 CKLY and 1420 CKPT to remind you of the patina, and the feel of yesteryear. This content is what truly sets us apart, augmented by the biggest news, sports and pop culture events from Ontario, Canada and the world. The Fantastic Kawartha Time Machine brings it all back – 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
You’re invited to keep those fires burning – back to the world you once knew, when the world you knew was young and alot less complicated.
The Fantastic Kawartha Time Machine is a labour of love, and has been years in the making. We invite you to bookmark us, for those times when you yearn to escape back in time.
We are proud to bring this to you – together with local news, weather, sports and features weekday mornings beginning at 8am EST, and specialty programs on the weekends: some from around the globe, and others as local as ‘Sunshine’ Sean Eyre and ‘Washboard’ Hank Fisher. We produce a monthly newsletter for members of the ‘Kawartha Time Traveller’s Club,’ (feel free to sign up below) and we remain forever grateful for your support and most of all, for your enjoyment.
